Moving Mountains!

Monday, June 6, 2022 - In the shadow of Owl’s Head Lookout, we’re moving mountains of our own! Our amazing team of excavators has prepared our 5-foot water main trench. Today, we are prepping the waterlines for our partners at HAPEC (Housing Assistance Program of Essex County). HAPEC is local non-profit dedicated to solving another critical aspect of rural infrastructure: affordable housing. In time, our neighbors at HAPEC will develop housing units using shared water and electrical. The Town of Keene has generously underwritten part of this expense using American Rescue Plan Act funds; affordable childcare and affordable housing were identified as strategic priorities in the town’s long-range planning process. Little Peaks is lucky to be at the nexus of this multi-organization effort to improve life for families and children in Keene!

Next up, the excavators move to the main building site. We’re excited to share progress with the wider community on June 14 when we’ll offer our first open site tour. In lieu of a formal groundbreaking (we’re moving faster than expected!), we will welcome friends in evening site tours throughout the summer.
