what a difference a week makes!

October 25, 2022. What a difference a week makes! Check out how the view has evolved in the past week as our sheet rock has filled in. This view, standing at the back door looking toward the front entrance, captures our entryway, faculty office (straight ahead), playroom (front left), preschool classroom (left), and kitchen entrance (right). This space will get filled in with tables so our children can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and snacks together in the open room between classrooms. The kitchen has always been the heart of Little Peaks and will continue to inspire seasonal curriculum around food cycles and preparation. In this space, our kids will be kneading dough, shelling beans, washing greens, and learning how to engage with food as part of their nature-inspired learning.

The classrooms are light-filled and sunny (see below) with high ceilings and beautiful southern exposure. Our Buildings Commitee is now turning to interior design work to choose nature-inspired paint colors for the new center’s walls. Swatches go up next week and painting begins the following!

Stay tuned, friends! Lots of exciting developments to come as we launch our Fall Fundraising Campaign on November 1. This enhanced version of our annual fund will support inaugural start-up operations, such as hiring talented staff, designing the learning environment, and developing our new full-day curriculum. Please reach out to Executive Director Reid Jewett Smith (reid@little-peaks.org) if you’d like to help spread the word by sharing news of our success with your friends, families, and colleagues.

Until then,

Reid & Little Peaks
