Little Peaks picks a Palette

Behind the Scenes: Picking a Paint Palette for Little Peaks

November 14, 2022. When our volunteers aren’t promoting our FALL FUND DRIVE, they’re busy picking a paint palette for Little Peaks. Our dedicated Building Commitee has been hard at work identifying colors for our interior paint scheme. We set out to design a calming children’s interior that captures the outdoors with an “Adirondack Neutral” palette. Each committee member proposed a neutral wall color, a wood stain for trim, and a bold green to test on our accent walls. We spent a whole day trying the samples in each classroom considering a variety of factors - What will age well? What promotes calm? What does well with the wood trim accents? How does this look in the sunlight? What will highlight children’s artwork? What requires the least maintenance?

With committee consensus, we’ve settled upon a beautiful Benjamin Moore palette - White Down (walls), Cedar Mountain (accents), with pine trim and American Wood flooring by Flotex. Here’s a snapshot of how our paint colors appear under various lighting. Believe it or not, these two colors shift with daylight and direction. We wanted to balance natural variation (by daylight) with consistency between rooms (two color palette) that compliments the wood features and beautiful natural setting.

Meanwhile, our campaign continues…

MORE good news - after two weeks, we’ve raised $190,000!

But our work is far from over! In this final week leading into Thanksgiving, we’re asking you to contribute here. We are so grateful for your commitment to our cause.
